Skills Personal Statement:
I have shown that I am motivated, committed and determined to achieve success for myself and my employer. I have gained strong communication and organisational skills in my position as bar steward and now seek a more challenging and responsible role.

Skills:

Communication:
 As a bar steward I have developed strong communication skills in order to ensure that customers needs are fulfilled and satisfied and this has been rewarded by customers voting for me as their “shining star” and writing complimentary letters to management about my service.
 Working in a customer-based environment requires great sensitivity and diplomacy to ensure that everything runs smoothly and professionally.
 Functions and conferences requires working to deadlines so I need to stay calm under pressure and my ability to do this has meant that I have been given more responsibility and a bigger role in the maintenance and management of the bar. This means handling cash, stocktaking, record keeping, ordering, cellar keeping etc.

Teamwork:
 I work as part of a team in a busy 4 star riverside hotel, a lot of the time under great pressure. I need to be flexible as any situation can arise and other team members may need assistance.
 To maintain the high standards that are demanded I need to be able to liase with others so that there is continuity of service. This has been demonstrated when companies and businesses have re-booked our hotel on several occasions because they know that they will receive excellent service.

Initiative:
 I am able to work on my own either opening up or closing down the bar area.
 I have demonstrated the ability to problem solve when things don’t always go according to plan. An example of this was recently there was a mistake with the ordering but I was able to telephone a local supplier who was able to step in and rescue the situation.
 I have enjoyed the opportunity to organise and manage temporary bar areas when the hotel is operating two or more functions.

Computer Literate:
 I have knowledge of computer operated tills.
 I am a competent user of Microsoft Word. Excel and Internet Explorer.
